Education and Outreach

Why bring opera into your school?
Recent studies exploring the impact of the arts on learning have stressed the importance of arts in education. These studies show that young people who have regular involvement in arts pursuits frequently develop superior skills in creativity and originality, expression of thoughts and ideas, imagination and elaboration, and in the organization of different kinds of meaning, insight and understanding. Many children would never be exposed to art forms like opera without such programs that we are able to bring into your school.

Opera Artist Institute

August 8-22, 2010

About Emerald City Opera and the Opera Artist Institute:

Emerald City Opera (ECO) completed its seventh season in 2009 with its main-stage production of The Elixir of Love and our second Young Artist program with productions of The Old Maid and the Thief, The Telephone and The Elixir of Love, performed in English in four locations in northwestern Colorado and Wyoming.  In 2010, ECO will continue to expand its outreach and education mission with additional performances by the Opera Artist Institute, a program providing a select group of singers with performance opportunities and training experiences. For additional information on Emerald City Opera, please visit the website at: www.EmeraldCityOpera.org.
